MINDA was present with a total of 13 players, making it one of the largest teams in the entire tournament. With sultry temperatures around 30 degrees, this squad size was badly needed.
The first match was against Sitex. Shortly after kick-off the weather made its presence felt, so the first MINDA colleague had to be replaced after three minutes with severe condition problems. The remaining players demanded everything from the opponent, a game at eye level became apparent. Unfortunately, one of our defenders went in the best goalkeeper manner to the ball in our own penalty area, so that Sitex could go in the lead 1:0 by the penalty due and did not give up the lead.
With even more ambition and a new tactical formation the MINDA team started the 2nd group match against the sports department of Hagemeyer. The new tactics came to fruition, we were able to create more opportunities, but the necessary final luck was missing. This was punished by the opponent bitterly because with the first dangerous attack they went 1:0 in the lead. As a result, the MINDA team had to play more offensively, which invited the opponent to counterattack opportunities. As a result of one of these counterattacks, Hagemeyer was awarded a questionable penalty, which our otherwise strong goalkeeper was unable to defend. In the end it was 2:0 for the opponent.
Although in the last group game against Follmann Chemie the advancement was no longer possible, the 13 MINDA colleagues gave everything again to at least not go out of the tournament without a goal. So the numerous spectators of MINDA gave also everything again to whip their colleagues forward. And then a shot from a MINDA colleague actually found its way into the goal, but, unfortunately, into the own one, which meant 1:0 for the opponent. The 2:0 followed quickly and when no one had expected more, suddenly a penalty whistle sounded again, this time in favor of MINDA! A brave trainee took the great responsibility and shot the ball into the meshes. Ecstasy arose on and off the court. The fact that the game was lost 3:1 was secondary in the end.
This meant that the last group game was over, and, unfortunately, MINDA was eliminated from the tournament. However, many MINDA colleagues spent a few moments there on the field, enjoyed together the great weather with a cool drink, a bratwurst and were still able to congratulate the Harting company from Espelkamp on winning the tournament.
